Size and depth of the damage
A scratch that has not gone through the clear coat can often be polished out. One that reaches the primer or metal needs filling, priming and repainting, which is a different job entirely.

Which panel it is on
A flat door skin is straightforward. Curved panels, body lines, and areas close to trim, handles or lights take longer to prepare and blend.

The paint itself
Solid colours are the simplest to match. Metallics, pearlescents and three-stage finishes need more care in the blend to avoid a visible edge, so they take longer.

How many areas need doing
Several repairs on the same visit share the same setup, preparation and paint mixing, so the combined price is usually well below the sum of the individual jobs.
